I have a new mindfulness teacher and his name is Apollo.
So far, I’ve been a pretty bad student. In fact, I’ve regressed these first few days.
I can’t focus or stay on task. My thinking process has become muddled. All I want to do is play with my teacher. Right now he’s konked out on the floor next to my feet, snoozing after the morning’s excitement (eating, discovering the garden, digging in the mulch pile, chewing on dog toys and kitchen chair legs).
Apollo must have known that he had to be perfect, since I am still so connected to my departed soul mate Spirit. I asked Spirit to help us with this puppy search, talking out loud to him like a crazy person.
It may just be coincidence, but the day after I asked Spirit to help us find a puppy, my son found a breeder with a litter due during the timeframe we were hoping for. I had to ask for Spirit’s help again in reaching agreement on a name. Our name negotiations coincided with the Iran nuclear deal talks, and felt almost as challenging.
We finally settled on Apollo, a strong name to appease my sons, but with a meaning that resonated with Mom. Sources differ slightly, but Apollo is the Greek and Roman god of wisdom, nature and art (or music, healing, light, prophecy and enlightenment). Another definition included “god of the Sun”.
So because it’s been a low productivity week (and as an exercise in accepting the reality of “what is”), I’ll keep today’s post short and give you what you really want….PUPPY PICTURES!
Gotta run now to let Apollo out!
