May has been a crazy month, with book events, photography shows, mindfulness (and mindful) conferences, and family graduations filling the past several weeks.
I knew I already had a lot on my plate when I was considering whether to start a new photo challenge this month, but decided to go ahead with it for two reasons:
1) photography grounds me in the present moment (especially important during hectic periods) and
2) creating something beautiful and sending it out into the world fulfills me in ways I can’t fully explain.
But I switched things up with the challenge this month.
To keep it simple I limited the challenge to Facebook (if we’re not connected there, find me here). And since I had heard from some friends that a month-long challenge was too intimidating for them, I shortened the exercise to different segments of five days and three days. We’d take a couple of days off (on those busy weekends), then come back to it. It was a fun exercise in tiny steps of habit building.
Rather than go on and on about the many reasons I love a photo challenge (I’ll save that for another post, since I’ve been working in the garden ALL DAY LONG and am physically and mentally tuckered out), I’ll simply share with you a few of my favorite #MayMoments.
Before I do, though, I’d like to invite you to check out the newly updated galleries under my photography page. You’ll find the images I sell on metal, a new page of black and whites, selected abstracts, and other favorites. Let me know what you think! And now a few recent whispers from my garden…

I’m taking a break from formal photo challenges for a while, but will let you know when we’re starting a new round. In the meantime, I love receiving photos from friends sharing their moments of gratitude and mindfulness! Feel free to email me or tag me on social media!
