Padding down the stairs quietly this morning and into my kitchen, not wanting to wake my sleeping family and houseguests, I feel the anticipation of Thanksgiving.
In a few hours the stillness will be replaced with chatter, laughter, vegetable chopping, the whir of the electric mixer, and the Macy’s Day Parade in the background.
But in this moment of quiet calm, the sky still inky black outside my window, I wanted to let you know how grateful I am for you. Thank you for reading my work, encouraging my photography, and providing me with support and positive feedback as I stumble (sometimes blindly) along this unexpected journey of mine.
For many of us, the past few weeks have been difficult. Uncertainty is stressful, and there’s no doubt we’ll have plenty of uncertainty to deal with in the months and years ahead. But we do have a choice in how we respond, and those choices can either be stress-producing or stress-reducing (for more about that, I invite you to read last week’s post if you missed it).
Today, though, I will focus fully on gratitude for my family, friends, community (including YOU), and being fortunate enough to have a roof over my head and an abundant meal in store today. I will visualize a world where everyone would be so fortunate–loved, accepted, healthy, happy, and safe.
Happy Thanksgiving!
