Well, it’s the second Thursday of January, and already I’ve hit a bump in the road with the goals I announced in last week’s post–particularly the commitment to post a blog every Thursday.
The problem is, I’ve been in bed for three days with a stomach bug that is probably the noro virus. Yuck!
Mindfulness practice has been helpful getting me through the hardest parts. Focusing on my breath, each inhale, each exhale, riding out each wave of nausea, and keeping at the forefront the fact that this state of being is only temporary. I’m feeling crappy, but less crappy than I would if I got carried away with drama-inducing thoughts. And I’m deeply grateful to have a warm bed to lie in, a clean indoor toilet into which to get sick, and loving family members to take care of me.
So rather than telling myself, “Oh my god! You’re not fulfilling the promise you made last week to tell people about your new offerings since you’ve been too sick to write this week,” I’m simply deciding to be listen to my body and rest. I’ll be back next Thursday though!
And I’m counting this as a blog post, by the way.
Signing off now, while wishing you all a healthier week than I have had!
