This photo, taken a few days ago for #MarthasJulyJoyPhotoChallenge, reminded me once again how much I cherish my friends. I didn’t know what would emerge from the unassuming dahlia tubers my friend Alice shared with me this spring. I was therefore all the more delighted to discover this sweet blossom waiting to surprise me.
It felt like the perfect time to repost a piece I wrote a few years ago about why I like to bury my friends in my garden.
