As my house has emptied of kids over the past couple of weeks, the dahlias unfolding in my garden remind me how beautiful transitions are. New beginnings hold magic and potential.

I’ll let the flowers do the talking today. (Pictured below is what emerged from the dull brown lump of ‘Nick Sr.’ dahlia tuber I planted the morning of my departure for SE Asia in late April. Is “miraculous” too strong a descriptor? I think not.)
