Are You Swimming With the Right Pod?

by | October 5, 2025 | Mental Fitness, Mindfulness

I’m writing from Sisters, Oregon today, where our family has gathered to celebrate my nephew’s retirement from the Marine Corps. The air is charged with laughter, memories, and the quiet hum of belonging. After years of service and adventure, he’s entering a new chapter — and the people who’ve traveled alongside him, both family and fellow Marines, have gathered to honor that journey.

As I watch them reconnect, I’m struck by how certain people simply resonate with one another. You can feel the ease in their interactions — the unspoken understanding, the shorthand of shared experience. There’s no need to overexplain or prove anything. They’re tuned to the same frequency, communicating in waves beyond words.

It reminds me how vital it is to be clear about our own internal frequency — the energy we emit through our presence, values, and attention. When we’re attuned to our authentic signal, we naturally attract those who can truly hear and see us. Conversations flow more easily. Shared silence feels comfortable. The relationship itself becomes restorative rather than draining.

We might call those people our pod.

Just as dolphins travel in pods — gliding, playing, protecting one another — we, too, move through life more gracefully when we’re surrounded by those swimming in the same direction. In a healthy pod, there’s a rhythm of trust. When one member tires or loses her way, the others adjust until everyone finds flow again. There’s no need to force or control — the movement is guided by mutual awareness and shared purpose.

Over the years, I’ve had many pods: family, professional circles, mindfulness communities, creative collaborators, and social groups. Some have stayed constant; others have evolved as my frequency has shifted with growth and new life chapters. Each has taught me something about flow, resilience, and belonging.

Being here this week — celebrating both continuity and transition — has reminded me how powerful it feels to be among people who truly resonate. When your frequency and your pod are aligned, there’s an ease that supports your flourishing. And when they’re not, the friction can feel like swimming upstream.

So I invite you to take a moment to reflect:

  • Who’s swimming beside you right now?
  • Do their currents help you stay aligned and buoyant?
  • Are you sending out a clear signal of who you are and where you’re headed — or has life’s noise made your frequency fuzzy?

We all deserve to travel in pods that support our growth, our calm, and our joy. And it starts by tuning inward — by getting quiet enough to hear our own true frequency again.

If you’re ready to recalibrate and strengthen your inner signal, my next opportunity to tune in together is our 15-Day Meditation Refresh, starting Wednesday, November 5. Learn more and register HERE

Here’s to finding — and swimming — with the pods that help you move through life with ease, flow, and purpose.
