pink hydrangea for mindful mad strategy blog

It’s Saturday morning, a little late with my weekly post. I’ve been busy getting ready for the 30-Day Mindfulness Meditation Challenge that starts this Monday, July 2nd. “Getting ready” means not only preparing the content and finalizing logistics, but also clearing the clutter in my home and work environment so that I can be as present as possible for my favorite offering. Today is therefore the perfect time to repost a piece I wrote during a previous Challenge, giving an example of the types of questions and answers that come up in our post-meditation Q&A sessions.

It’s not too late to join the circle for the July 2018 session! To learn more and to register, visit https://damselwings.com/30-day-mindfulness-meditation-challenge/

I’ll sign off now to head to the White House, where I’ll join the Families Belong Together March to add my voice and body to the crowd calling for humane treatment of families fleeing violence and terror in their home countries. (Who among us in the United States, with the exception of 100% Native Americans, does not have ancestors who received refuge here?). This week’s cover of Time Magazine tells the story pretty powerfully. It’s a myth that mindfulness makes you complacent, accepting everything as it is. Mindfulness empowers you to connect deeply with your core values and take skillful, purpose-driven, positive action. Rather than sitting at home lost in helpless anger, this is one way I can feel like I’m doing something.
